My client is seeking to hire a candidate to lead the Development Delivery function, overseeing day-to-day operational delivery of development activity across a portfolio of projects within the social housing care provider sector.

My client is one of the leading providers of specialist housing and care for those in later life with properties across the entirety of Northern England.

Description

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development team to achieve their goals and targets, identifying and managing risk and ensuring process and procedure is followed within governance frameworks.
  • Focus will be on leading a team to deliver high quality delivery of development activity that fulfil the clients strategic requirements. The role will also help team members feel empowered to own relationships and priorities within their remit. You will help team members to grow through their personal development plans and skills frameworks and linked training.
  • Working with other internal teams and departments to set expectations, build relationships and will be a leader for external stakeholders. You will be a senior leader with experience to broker and unlock difficult negotiations with vendors and local authorities and will be a point of escalation for performance management issues with consultants.
  • Reporting to the Director of Development Delivery and working with development colleagues, as well as Development Finance and other leaders across the organisation, this is a business-critical part of our aspirations to provide more homes, be more efficient, provide more opportunities for colleagues and be more influential.

Profile

A successful 'Head of Development - Delivery should have:

  • Experience of working in housing development, preferably in the social housing sector;
  • Experience of leading and managing people;
  • Experience in applying solutions-orientated approach and constructive challenge with the team and colleagues;
  • Experience of developing professional relationships with external and internal clients and stakeholders, and challenge under performance from consultants and contractors;
  • Knowledge of Homes England/GLA priorities and compliance requirements.
  • Managing a large construction programme of new mixed tenure developments through a range of JCT contracts
  • Detailed understanding of construction contracts and procurement including management of dispute resolution
