Pastoral Support Mentor

We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Mentor to implement policies and procedures aimed at improving learner intervention strategies. This role is crucial in supporting student attendance, retention, achievement, and progression. The successful candidate will also deliver programmes and activities related to employability, mental health, social and emotional wellbeing.
Day to Day of the role:
- Ensure all "at risk" learners receive necessary intervention through group sessions or 1:1 meetings in accordance with the Group's policy.
- Deliver programmes and activities supporting mental health, emotional and social wellbeing.
- Conduct group and 1:1 meetings with learners requiring intervention.
- Collaborate with curriculum teams to address concerns regarding achievement, retention, and behaviour, creating a tiered intervention approach.
- Build and maintain supportive relationships with students, providing guidance and support for personal and social development.
- Assist in the delivery of the Group's mental health and wellbeing strategy, supporting at-risk students.
- Identify and address concerns, risks, and barriers to student progress, collaborating with parents/carers, colleagues, and external agencies.
- Work closely with internal services such as careers guidance, SEND, exams, and support services for a collaborative approach to learner interventions.
- Monitor "at risk" learners, maintain motivation, and make appropriate referrals to support services.
- Contribute to learner reports and attend events such as parents' evenings and induction events as required.
- Support students in resolving issues that create barriers to learning and work collaboratively with other professionals for a cross-agency approach.
- Attend inter-agency support meetings and collaborate with the Designated Lead Safeguarding Officer for effective handling of Safeguarding disclosures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar pastoral or learner support role.
- Understanding of intervention strategies and their implementation.
- Ability to deliver programmes related to mental health, wellbeing, and British Values.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with students and colleagues.
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and commitment to promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
- Willingness to travel as required for the role.
- Eligibility to work in the UK and satisfactory completion of enhanced DBS checks.
