We are looking for a Senior Payroll Assistant to undertake the following duties on a day-to-day basis:

Key responsibilities

  • Provide first line support for any payroll queries.
  • Process starters/ leavers, tax code changes and other payroll information.
  • Check timesheets for completion and authorisation.
  • Maintain accurate records of BIK and process through payroll.
  • Assist in preparation, reconciliation and processing of monthly payrolls.
  • Maintain monthly journals and liaise with finance department for any related queries.
  • Process pension contribution payments to relevant providers.
  • Administrate Attachment of Earnings Orders and timely payment to local authorities.
  • Prepare and arrange timely payment of monthly payroll liabilities relating to companies PAYE.
  • Assist with the completion of National Statistic returns,
  • Prepare calculations for PSA and submit to HMRC.
  • Assist with processing payrolls year-end.
  • Prepare of ad hock payroll reports.
  • Provide payroll cover in absence of payroll manager.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Abilities

  • Proven work experience, min. 2 years as payroll assistant or in a similar position.
  • Good payroll software skills, preferably experience in Workday or other cloud-based software.
  • Good working knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Up to date knowledge of payroll legislation relating to PAYE, SMP, SSP, NI & BIK.
  • Degree in Accounting or studying towards payroll/finance qualification.
  • Excellent mathematical and accounting skills.
