Job Title: Early Years Lead (Maternity Cover)

Location: Northholt (UB5)

Reports to: Headteacher/Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

Start Date: Feb 2025 - Dec 2025

Qualifications needed: QTS & Experience as an Early Years Team Lead in a Primary School

**Main Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management of EYFS:

  • Lead and manage the Early Years team (including teachers, support staff, and LSAs) to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.

  • Develop and implement the EYFS curriculum in line with the school's ethos and national guidelines.

  • Monitor and evaluate the progress and achievement of pupils, ensuring high standards of learning and development.

  • Oversee planning, assessment, and record-keeping processes to track children's progress effectively.

  • Work closely with SLT and other staff to set high expectations for behavior, attendance, and outcomes.

  • Teaching and Learning:

  • Model outstanding practice in early years teaching and provide guidance and support to EYFS staff.

  • Ensure a stimulating and inclusive environment that promotes children's social, emotional, and physical development.

  • Foster excellent relationships with children, parents, and carers, providing support and promoting positive communication.

  • Facilitate high-quality, structured play-based learning experiences for all pupils.

  • Safeguarding and Pupil Welfare:

  • Take responsibility for the safeguarding and well-being of all EYFS children, following school policies and procedures.

  • Identify and address any additional needs, including Special Educational Needs (SEN), through effective collaboration with external agencies and SENCOs.

  • Promote positive behavior management and emotional support strategies to create a safe, nurturing environment.

  • Professional Development:

  • Support and mentor staff within the EYFS team, providing feedback and professional development opportunities.

  • Keep up to date with best practices, policies, and changes in early years education, including continuous professional development.

  • Liaise with parents and external agencies to support the transition from EYFS to Key Stage 1.

  • School Improvement:

  • Contribute to the school's improvement plan by leading on Early Years initiatives and developing strategic action plans.

  • Prepare for and participate in Ofsted inspections, ensuring that the EYFS provision meets the standards expected.

  • Collect, analyze, and use data to improve outcomes for all children in EYFS.

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and pedagogy.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and meeting the diverse needs of children.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with parents, staff, and external agencies.

Ability to manage resources efficiently and maintain a safe, stimulating environment.
