Certain Advantage are recruiting on behalf of our Energy Trading client in London for a Commercial Contracts Advisor.

This is a contract position initially for 12 months working 3 days onsite in Central London.

We're looking for candidates with experience drafting/ negotiating/ executing commodity contracts. If you have experience in energy specific contracts such as EFETs and ISDAs this would be highly beneficial.

The role

You'll be joining a world-renowned Energy Business in their Energy Trading Contracts team who support the Europe and Africa trading business. The team are responsible for managing the entire trading contracts process from drafting and negotiating agreements through to con?rmation and reporting of individual trades.

The main purpose of this Commercial Advisor position is to draft and/or review agreements required to enable deal opportunities, negotiate these agreements directly with counterparties and manage internal approvals as necessary for document execution.

Typical responsibilities

  • Provide accurate pre and post deal commercial and contractual advice to the trading business
  • Take ownership and accountability for the negotiation of both standardised and complex agreements
  • Work with cross-functional teams looking to make process improvements that increase e?ciency and minimise risks
  • Support the Trading business and Contracts team through advice and, where required, intervention to ensure compliance with the internal Control Framework

Your experience

  • Relevant experience in a role that is dedicated to drafting, analysing, and negotiating commodity contracts. (European Gas, Power and Environmental Products contracts experience is highly desirable)
  • Strong negotiation skills, including the ability to apply di?erent techniques depending on the situation.
  • Highly skilled at stakeholder management at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Knowledge of the operational requirements in a life of a deal and ability to leverage strong working relationships with functional areas involved in the pre-deal contract process.
  • Ability to analyse commercial and contractual structures and communicate clear recommendations on risks and opportunities, using sound commercial judgement.
  • Ability to thoroughly explain contractual terms and our position to customers and other internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple con?icting priorities to meet deadlines.
