Are you an experienced payroll professional looking to make a real impact in a dynamic organisation? Do you have a strong background in payroll management and a knack for improving processes and systems? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Robertson Bell are excited to partner with this not-for-profit organisation as they go to market for a dedicated Payroll Specialist to join their team on a permanent basis. With a new payroll system in place and an exciting period of growth ahead, this is a fantastic time to become part of their organisation.

As our Payroll Specialist, you will:

  • Oversee all aspects of payroll administration for approximately 300 employees, ensuring accurate and timely processing from start to finish, including auto-enrolment pensions and statutory payments such as maternity pay.
  • Collaborate closely with our third-party payroll provider to monitor performance, resolve any discrepancies, and ensure smooth and efficient payroll operations. You will act as the main point of contact for all payroll-related queries, liaising with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Analyse payroll data and produce detailed costing reports, providing key insights to the finance team and contributing to strategic financial planning.
  • Manage the reconciliation of payroll and bank accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reported, and supporting the preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in payroll processes and systems by identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions, with a focus on automating manual tasks and improving overall accuracy.
  • Address payroll queries and issues from HR and other departments, including liaising directly with HMRC when necessary to resolve complex matters.

Based remotely initially, with plans to move to a hybrid model in a central office, this role offers a competitive salary, a collaborative team environment, and the chance to shape their payroll processes during an exciting phase of transformation.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant payroll or finance qualification, such as CIPP, or be qualified by experience with at least five years in a payroll-focused role within a finance team.
  • A strong understanding of payroll systems and software, and ideally experience managing payroll for timesheet-based employees and those on variable contracts.
  • Demonstrable experience in implementing and optimising payroll processes, including knowledge of auto-enrolment and other statutory requirements, along with a good understanding of changing tax and National Insurance rates.
  • Excellent analytical skills, proficiency in Excel, and the ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with the wider finance team.

If you are proactive, detail-oriented, and ready to take on a challenging role in a growing organisation, apply today! Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis, so don't miss this opportunity to advance your career as a Payroll Specialist.
