Harness Builder (6-Month Contract)

Operating from a state-of-the-art facility in Oxfordshire, they develop high-performance, low-weight motors and power electronics for Urban Air Mobility (UAM), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and General Aviation (GA).
The Opportunity:
I am currently seeking a Harness Builder for a 6-month contract. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will play a key role in carrying out electrical assembly, test, and inspection tasks within our facility. Your work will ensure compliance with product certification procedures, allocated budgets, and project timescales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret technical drawings and diagrams to understand wiring specifications.
- Cut, strip, and crimp wires according to harness designs and engineering instructions.
- Route and lace wires to ensure proper fit and alignment.
- Install connectors, terminals, and other electrical hardware.
- Perform quality checks to ensure harnesses meet safety and quality standards.
- Test completed harnesses for functionality and performance.
- Document work performed and maintain accurate records of materials used.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organised work area.
Skills and Experience Required:
- City and Guilds, HNC, or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
- Certification to IPC/WHMA-A-620.
- Proven experience as a Harness Builder or similar role, ideally within the aerospace industry.
- Ability to carry out both repeat production and varied one-off types of work.
- Recognised mechanical and wiring assembly skills, including the use of tools and general fault-finding skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions, drawings, schematics, and Bills of Material.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, and soldering irons.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ideally hold certification to J-STD-001 and IPC610.
