Job Overview: They are seeking a results-driven and strategic-thinking Business Development Manager to join the team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in planning and implementing strategies to accumulate new business and break into untapped markets and opportunities, to help hit our growth targets. The candidate will have a proven track record of success in growing and managing teams, setting and achieving ambitious targets, identifying and tracking new opportunities, building and nurturing client relationships and driving revenue growth. The business development manager must be a team player and be able to support different departments and stakeholders. They will report directly to the Sales Director and play a crucial role in the success of the overall sales team.

Responsibilities:

1. Planning & Strategising:

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential business opportunities and industry trends
  • Analyse competitor activities and market conditions to develop a competitive edge
  • Review current business activities to make sure any new strategies are aligned with where the company is going and what we are doing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of sales plans.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies aligned with company objectives.

2. Lead Generation:

  • Generate new leads through various channels, including networking events, cold calling, face to face visits and online research
  • Qualify leads and prioritise opportunities based on strategic fit and potential for business growth.

3. Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients
  • Understand client needs and concerns, and tailor solutions to meet their specific requirements
  • Identify new business opportunities by interacting with clients

4. Proposal and Presentation:

  • Prepare compelling proposals and presentations for potential clients
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition of our products/services and how we are the market leaders

5. Negotiation and Closure:

  • Lead negotiations to secure profitable agreements with clients
  • Effectively demonstrate to the client how we can improve their business without just being the 'cheapest'

6. Sales Reporting:

  • Provide regular and accurate sales forecasts, reports, and updates to the management team
  • Utilise CRM tools to track and manage sales activities and client interactions

7. Team Management:

  • Effectively manage other team members (Business Development Executives and Business Development Support)
  • Help in identifying and interviewing new potential team members

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Business Administration, Marketing and Sales
  • Proven track record of success in business development, with at least 6 years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of the construction sector and market dynamics
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting client relationships
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in using CRM tools and other relevant software
