About the role:
The Procurement Project Officer plays a key role in being the procurement link with the Technical (Engineering) function on key projects across the Group.
The role will support the Head of Group Procurement by ensuring that there is alignment on supplier selection and that cost targets are met for both VAVE and NPD projects.
Your key stakeholders internally include; Technical (Engineering) Team, Group Procurement Managers, and the UK Head of Procurement.
This role will require someone who is willing and able to become a subject matter expert on supplier and product data.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To become the established sourcing authority on supplier selection for new projects.
- Be visible and build a network with key internal stakeholders in Procurement, Technical & Operations, and externally within our supply base.
- Integrating with the Group Technical team and following the defined project pathway process.
- Ensuring that the key commercials relating to new projects are leveraged in with existing business and aligned with sourcing strategies, in order to maximise impact on supplier consolidation and build in future material cost savings.
- Together with Group Technical, champion the successful delivery of NPD projects on time and on budget.
- Provide commercial and contractual coverage for project related Intellectual Property (IP), ensuring that clear expectations for ‘deliverables' are documented and agreed to by suppliers that we work with.
- Coordinate group-wide VAVE projects, having a clear understanding of who is responsible for what task, and what the next step is. This will mainly involve coordinating with project team members in Procurement, Supply Chain & Technical.
- Develop ‘expert' level knowledge on group-wide supplier profiles and their capabilities and identify new sources/suppliers where there are gaps.
- Collate, analyse and issue monthly activity reports for NPD & VAVE projects.
About you:
- High level of organisation and ability to prioritise tasks appropriately in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrable project management skills and experience.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated. Must be results oriented.
- Have a good understanding of sustainability best practice and how this should be implemented across the supply chain.
- Working knowledge of project management systems, processes and technologies is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Excel (intermediate level), PowePoint, is essential.
- Experience of working in a manufacturing/engineering environment is an advantage.
- Confident approach to dealing with suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure that Volution's requirements are delivered.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence colleagues to deliver assigned targets and goals.
- Ability to analyse data and present results and trends is essential
