Trade Compliance Coordinator

Our client, a well-respected player in the Supply Chain & Logistics industry, offering a number of specialist services such as freight forwarding, customs clearance and warehousing, are looking to recruit a Trade Compliance Coordinator to be based at offices in London, Heathrow.

The role is available due to increased global growth in the business.

Main Purpose of the Role:

To support Key Account Trade Compliance Functions with KPI and Product Reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Trade Compliance Co-ordinator:

  • Working closely with line report and operators to ensure smooth movement of items across borders
  • Being able to determine correct tariff classifications for all supported brands within the Key Account function moving from the EU as required
  • Issuing country specific guidance (for the UK) to the business on additional import requirements for stock products predominantly from the EU
  • Maintain close liaison with line reporting and to provide support to the Head of function
  • Providing support on internal projects where input, involvement or expertise from Trade Compliance is needed
  • Auditing and monitoring entries to ensure they are compliant with local import and export legislation, as well as to support brand KPI audit requirements
  • Ensure all operational activities are completed and followed up correctly in accordance with SOP's and organisational policy.
  • Help facilitate Imports and Exports of non-stock goods, completing and suppling documents and declarations
  • Liaise with HMRC and assist with maintenance on customs procedures.
  • Maintenance of the CITES portal, uploading Import and Re-Export CITES certificates
  • Implement and improve new efficiencies in client workflow in conjunction with line manager
  • Report any sales leads (new clients) to the line manager for distribution to the sales team.
  • Create and maintain written procedures
  • Ensure all reports & KPI's are generated by given deadlines and handed to line manager for submission to each area of Key Accounts
  • Complete ad-hoc and spot checks on entries and submit reports to line manager and Head of Department weekly

To Be Considered:

  • Experience within customs/trade compliance within a large business or brokerage firm and an in-depth understanding of UK and EU Customs regulations
  • Proficient understanding of international trade, import duties, commodity codes, incoterms, preference, and valuation
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written) essential with expert communication skills across all levels
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well and being confident independently
  • Demonstrate initiative and drive to meet deadlines while working in a busy environment
