Purpose of the Job
As a Solution Architect, you will design technology solutions to meet business needs. You'll ensure these solutions align with our Technology strategy, architecture principles, and design patterns. You will collaborate with key stakeholders and Business Analysts to ensure solutions meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Design Solutions: Create architecture designs that meet business requirements and are documented clearly.
- Enterprise Architecture: Maintain and update views across Business, Application, Data, and Technical domains.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Business Analysts, Project Managers, and key stakeholders to ensure solutions are understood and implemented effectively.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure solutions meet security standards and comply with Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.
- Documentation: Oversee and ensure third-party solutions are documented and meet business standards.
- Review and Approval: Plan and conduct Architecture Reviews, and submit designs to the Technology Design Authority for approval.
- Cost Management: Ensure solutions are cost-effective and consider total cost of ownership, ongoing maintenance, and operational risks.
What You Need
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong background in solving problems through an architecture practice.
- Technical Understanding: Good knowledge of technology (though this is not a hands-on technical role). Cloud knowledge is useful but this is not a Cloud Architect role.
- Communication: Ability to talk both business and technology, and work with colleagues who do not understand IT, instilling confidence in your solutions.
- Curiosity: A natural curiosity, always asking "why" and "how".
- Transformation Support: Ability to dive into our Engineering functions' transformation, understand challenges, and map out a technology future
Experience:
- Experience in an architecture or design role within IT.
- A good level of experience in an IT role, such as technologist or Business Analyst.
- Demonstrable experience in designing solutions.
Salary/package:
- £70,000-£75,000 salary
- Excellent pension scheme - overmatched employer contributions
- Flexible working across business sites (Manchester/York)
