PMO Manager

As the PMO Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing our Project Management Office (PMO).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Management and Process Improvement: Lead a talented PMO team, setting up and refining processes to ensure smooth operations and alignment with Nest's strategic goals.
  • Governance and Risk Management: Support project and programme governance, ensuring robust risk management, standards, and controls are in place. Be the go-to expert for managing risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Portfolio Monitoring and Reporting: Oversee the monitoring and analysis of our project portfolio, producing high-quality reports and dashboards. Your keen eye for detail will ensure accurate and timely information is provided to stakeholders.
  • Project Planning: Develop and maintain comprehensive portfolio and project plans, utilizing tools like Microsoft Project, Excel, and Visio to ensure projects stay on track.

To be successful in this position you must have the following skills and experience:

  • Extensive first-hand experience of working in a PMO environment and establishing and maintaining structured methods for the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects in a comparable management role.
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring PMO resource.
  • Proven experience of project governance and PMO processes and controls.

A sound understanding of project and programme methodologies such as Prince2, Waterfall and Agile.

  • Advanced/expert in the development and maintenance of plans and tracking tools for complex project portfolios using standard project management software such as Microsoft Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, PPM tools.

Directorate/Department Overview

The Service & Experience team are part of the Change Programmes and Service Management (CPSM) function within Nest. CPSM run the Nest scheme, from assuring the stability and quality of the service being delivered by TCS, through to governing all change and implementing improvements through bespoke projects.

The Service & Experience team is responsible for delivering the Service Experience and Technology Transformation programme (SETT) which seeks to transform the services we provide to our members alongside our Scheme Administration partner, TCS. A new Scheme Administration contract with TCS commences from July 2025 and currently the team are managing an implementation programme which will shape the way we work with TCS and deliver services to our members for the foreseeable future.

In addition to the SETT programme, the team deliver complex project within the Nest experience directorate which drives Nest towards its strategic priorities. It does this through delivering high level Project Management Delivery, effective PMO services and providing a test execution service for projects requiring an independent test execution.

The PMO role reports to the PMO Programme Manager and consists of a small team of four but is also part of the wider Service & Experience team which consists of a team of 20 plus team members of difference skills sets. These skills include end to end test management, project delivery, stakeholder management, governance and Project Management Office.
