Deputy Practice Manager

Meridian Business Support are delighted to be working with a clinician led primary care service which offers a wide range of care services to recruit for a Deputy Practice Manager based in Fareham.

As a deputy practice manager, you will oversee the administration and daily running of the service. Patients in this service have tailored services provided for them, which cannot be provided for by their local practice.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the administrative elements of QOF, national and local contracts, liaising with GPs, nursing staff and administrators to reach targets.
  • Implementing systems to ensure compliance with CQC regulations and standards.
  • Assist with recruitment procedures and ensure roles of people are required by the services, this will include reviewing and regularly updating job descriptions as required.
  • Supporting the contract manager implementing and embedding an effective staff appraisal process which will include staff development plans for all staff (clinical and administrative) whilst maintaining a robust training record
  • Setting up the appointments diary working with the appropriate persons for template guidance.
  • Running searches such as Ardens in EMIS, to ensure correct coding used by the practice and alert the contract manager of issues.
  • Reviewing and update referral templates as required / champion and train the team on any other referral template programme
  • To oversee and manage Extended Access Services and SAS in the absence of the Contract Manager.

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Deputy Practice Manager may be requested to:

  • Lead the management of the Patient Participation Group
  • Take minutes for meetings
  • Brief clinicians on performance levels, advising actions to ensure high achievement across all QOF areas
  • Deal with patient queries concerns with empathy and professionalism at all times, raising any safeguarding concerns to the contract manager

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a surgery setting in a management position is required.
  • Ability to deal with challenging behaviour while remaining calm and professional at all times and understanding when to tackle and when to escalate incidents as they occur is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package (word, excel) is vital.

Salary - up to £35,000 per anum
