Electric Controls Engineer

I am currently looking for an Electrical Controls Engineer to join an expanding controls team with one of our Turnkey project Engineering clients.

What to expect:

  • Develop estimates and prepare tender documents, including design and tender specifications.
  • Create Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and Software Design Specifications (SDS).
  • Design and program PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for various industries using Siemens, Mitsubishi, and similar equipment.
  • Design electrical distribution systems, motor control centres, and PLC control systems.
  • Participate in the project lifecycle from enquiry and concept design through to detailed design.
  • Attend client and subcontractor meetings to provide technical expertise and project support.
  • Produce test documents such as Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and attend factory visits at panel manufacturers' premises for testing.

What we need from you:

  • Engineering qualification at least at Level 4 (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
  • Relevant design experience as an Electrical/Controls Engineer.
  • Proficient in control panel and MCC design, ideally with Siemens equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in industrial control systems, including electrical distribution equipment, motor control centres, and PLC control panels.
  • Experience working in a turnkey project environment.
  • Project management experience in electrical engineering and controls projects.
  • Working experience of BS EN 60204 and BS 7671 standards
  • Ability to produce and manage Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS).

Desirable requirements:

  • Understanding of AC/DC drive systems.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with Safety Related Control Systems according to BS EN IEC 62061 or BS EN ISO 13849.
  • Experience with installation and commissioning procedures is advantageous.
