Business Systems Project Manager – 6 month FTC (50% home working, 50% onsite)

Venn Group are pleased to have partnered with one of our esteemed Public Sector clients to source a driven and pragmatic Business Systems Project Manager. This is a hybrid working position based in Derbyshire, paying £46,464-£49,498 per annum.

Your duties will include:

Be responsible for managing all phases of the project lifecycle from project inception through to implementation for all new, replacement and upgrades to IT business systems.

For every project undertaken:

Develop project strategy, project objectives and project scoping documents. Facilitate full cost/benefit analysis.

Engage stakeholders, create project organisation structure and a project communication framework. Gain agreement from all relevant parties, including General Managers & Area Managers, Project Steering Group, Programme Board, Senior Leadership Team, Fire Authority.

Be responsible for managing all project meetings and workshops in line with the communications framework agreed for the project, including meeting preparation, chairing of meetings and producing meeting documentation. Carry out management reporting at key stages of the project to all stake holder levels with the organisation and co-ordinate all service wide communications.

Create both high level and detailed level project plans. Identify resources and create estimates for each project task. Ensure plans are workload balanced based on agreed resource availability. Monitor progress regularly by tracking actuals vs estimates and re-planning workload as required. Manage interdependencies between project tasks.

Facilitate both high level and detailed level requirements gathering with all parties and ensure requirements are documented to the necessary level of detail and signed off.

Lead the evaluation, tendering and supplier selection and procurement process with multiple 3rd party suppliers, in line with procurement guidelines.

Be responsible for ensuring full evaluation of all potential solution options and make solution recommendations to Project Steering Group, Programme Board, Senior Leadership Team and Fire Authority and the Change Management Board.

Calculate project costs and agree budget with Senior Management. Manage project within agreed budget.

Be responsible for ensuring any proposed solution fully aligns with business goals and objectives and integrates as required with existing DFRS systems and ICT infrastructure; can be delivered for reasonable cost versus benefit; and is in line with user requirements.

Manage the creation of a full technical solution design and data designs, encompassing development, test, training and live environments.

Manage and coordinate all business systems development, configuration and set up activities.

Create and agree the design for integration with other systems. Manage and coordinate activities required to integrate new system with existing legacy systems and processes.

Manage the provision of high level test scenarios along with detailed test plans and ensure coverage and quality.

Manage all phases of testing; unit testing; system testing; integration testing and user testing in line with agreed test plans. Ensure all problems found are logged and prioritised for fixing. Monitor progress of fixes and ensure retesting and regression testing are carried out.

Develop a training strategy and facilitate preparation of training materials and delivery of training to all business system users across the different departments in the service, utilising both classroom and online methods. Carry out end-user training when required.

Develop trial, implementation and rollout strategies and develop detailed implementation and risk management plans. Facilitate trial, implementation and rollout of business system. Ensure a successful system launch into the live environment.

Facilitate the creation of project documentation, technical design and process documentation at each stage of the project. Be responsible for the quality and accuracy of the documentation. Create and agree best practices, standards and guidelines to support business systems implementation

Manage all resources working as part of core project team. Coordinate user department resources and resources from other S&I teams.

Work closely with 3rd party suppliers to facilitate required services and coordinate resources to ensure successful delivery of project
