Overview:

We are currently recruiting for a Systems Engineer to join our client's business which is providing "Innovative Solutions" for Professional Computing in Industrial & Defence Sectors.

Specialities - computers, racks, rack integration, tablets, technology, engineering, manufacturing, iot, electro-mechanical, sheet metal, wireless sensors, defence, automation, communications, energy, transport, healthcare, edge computing, and micro data centres.

We strongly encourage applications from Ex- British Military personnel who may not meet all the requirements of our client but who can bring experience of working on complex electrical/electronic systems.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Min of 5+ Years in an engineering role associated with electrical systems, with at least 3+ of these direct of system engineering experience.
  • Experience of requirement management through design projects (e.g. Compliance verification matrixes)
  • Experience of product design and test standards for military systems.
  • Experience of assessing and producing product safety and system documentation (such as availability, reliability & maintainability documents, integrated logistic support plans, FMECA)
  • Experience of completing verification and validation exercises, as well as documenting compliance evidence.
  • Experience in working to and auditing against electrical and safety standards.
  • Experience of calculating reliability, airflow, power budgets.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working complex defence projects.
  • Experience of conducting functional systems analysis.
  • Experience of all elements of the product lifecycle.
  • Experience in Computer or 19" Rack based computing systems.
  • Experience of Electrical Safety testing.
  • Experience of Environmental testing.
  • Experience of working with PC interfaces.
  • Experience of testing for EMC and regulatory requirements (CE/UKCA).
  • Experience of working to the ISO 9001 standard or a professional and process driven methodology.

Skills:

Essential:

  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles across the development lifecycle.
  • Ability to perform effective interface control management, both in terms of application and derivation, at a sub-system, system and system-of-system levels including the generation of interface control documents.
  • Able to analyse system requirements and determine the most appropriate solution supported by analysis, simulation, and experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with mechanical, electrical and software designers to ensure integrity of design application.
  • Ability to prepare and review complete project documentation for conformity and quality.
  • Ability to present specific aspects of engineering assignments at project meetings and reviews.

Desirable:

  • Reviewing designs with Solidworks, EPDM
  • Reviewing plans in Microsoft Project
  • BOM creation / review within an ERP system

Education:

Essential:

  • At least a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

Desirable:

  • Post graduate training/qualifications in systems engineering.
  • Master's Degree.

Security Clearance:

  • BPSS Security Clearance required, and Prior UK security clearance is an advantage.

Interview process:

1st interview 30-minute teams and if invited to follow up this will be face-face and the candidate should be prepared to answer detailed questions about their approach to systems engineering, and implementation of standard practices to hypothetical situations. .
