MRK Associates is proud to partner with a leading retail company renowned for its innovative approach and commitment to excellence. We are currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Finance Analyst - Operations to join their dynamic team in Watford on a 12 month FTC to cover Maternity Leave.
Role Purpose:
The Finance Analyst - Operations will provide essential financial stewardship, deliver insightful financial analysis, and support store operations. This role is crucial for ensuring an efficient month-end process and effective business partnering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Partnering:
Collaborate with the Head of Operations, Head of Property, and senior Operations team, providing analysis and insights to support key decisions.
- Management Accounting:
Assist in management accounting for Stores and Operations, including Shrinkage, R&M, and Variable Costs. Conduct month-end reviews with the Head of Operations/Property.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations:
Take ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, including the analysis of risks and opportunities, and perform monthly reviews with the FD.
- Forecasting, Budgeting, and Planning:
Support the Operations team in forecasting, budgeting, and planning, ensuring targets are met and variances are understood.
- External Property Management:
Act as the key contact for external property management companies, reviewing and interpreting job/store-level data for R&M and utilities.
- Store Manager Support:
Provide timely responses to P&L queries from store managers.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with VAT & FA teams to assist with queries or analysis, ensuring smooth and efficient operation of the Finance department.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or Finalist
Experience:
- Broad finance experience, including month-end accounting and business partnering
- Retail experience, particularly in a multi-site environment
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Excel
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Team player with a can-do attitude
- Well-organized and able to prioritize work effectively
- Hard-working, proactive, enthusiastic, and inquisitive
