A specialist automotive/motorsport manufacturer is recruiting an experienced Senior/Category Buyer to work from their Leicestershire headquarters. You will take responsibility for a particular category and selection of suppliers to ensure that high quality parts and components are delivered OTIF to enable Production targets to be met.

As the Senior/Category Buyer you will support the Purchasing team in:

  • Supporting the company's growth by enabling profit through effective sourcing
  • Reducing supplier lead time whilst ensuring they maintain the high standards expected.
  • Deliver a strategy for your category to ensure that both general production and new model manufacturing can be fulfilled.
  • Identify cost saving opportunities within your specific category.

To be successful as a Senior/Category Buyer you will have:

  • Previous experience as a Category Buyer, Senior Buyer or Project Buyer within a manufacturing business, ideally within the automotive industry.
  • Experience in New Product Introduction.
  • Proven negotiation skills and to have an in-depth understanding of commercial terms.
  • Far East sourcing.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Purchased a range of materials, components, and parts.
  • Worked with a range of MER/ERP systems.
