Management Accountant

Our client, an incredible charitable organisation, are looking for a Management Accountant to join their team in their Stonehouse-based offices. If you're an experienced Management Accountant who would like to feel their work is helping others, this is a great opportunity for you!

The Management Accountant is responsible for ensuring that the charity has robust financial systems and information in order to meet its strategic objectives, purpose, and mission. This involves:

  • General bookkeeping and supporting the Head of Finance with strategy
  • Implementing and improving accounting procedures
  • Production of monthly management accounts, reconciliations and reports
  • Monthly accruals, prepayments, accrued and deferred income adjustments
  • Supporting with annual audit preparation, budgeting and reporting on key metrics
  • Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to improve communication and understanding of processes
  • Management of sales and purchase ledger, including approval workflows
  • Preparation of monthly payroll for approval
  • Accounting for monthly payroll and associated costs and liabilities
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Administration of Gift Aid income

The successful Management Accountant will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a financial role; a minimum of 3 years
  • An Accountancy qualification - ACA, ACCA or CIMA, at level 3 or above
  • Experience in preparing monthly management accounts
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience using QuickBooks Online, Dext Prepare and Approval Max, or similar
  • An organised and methodical approach to work
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to work across multiple teams with managers of differing finance abilities
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to work at pace and meet deadlines, whilst understanding others may have conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A head for problem-solving, with the confidence to propose process improvements to maximise efficiency
