Location: Carlisle

Salary: £29,605 per annum (With incremental progression to £36,024 per annum)

The University and Imperial College London have formed a strategic partnership to open a new medical school to develop and deliver the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM).

The first students start a bespoke 4-year post graduate MBBS programme in 2025/26. Applying the University experience in training nurses, midwives and other professions allied to medicine, alongside Imperial's expertise in medical education, they aim to produce doctors who are embedded in their local community ready to contribute to services across the region and beyond.

The Role

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join PCSM. The post holder will be responsible for:

Supporting the admissions process for the School, working in close collaboration with applicants, colleagues within PCSM and both institutions' admissions teams to deliver an excellent admissions experience for their prospective students.

This is an exceptional opportunity to help shape the delivery of this unique Medical School.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Educated to RQF Level 3 (A Level, Scottish Higher or equivalent) or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a relevant role dealing with administrative and information management systems and understanding of the relevant terminology.
  • Ability to apply a detailed understanding of an area of work and its underlying principles, supported by evidence of experience and/or relevant educational background, in order to provide administrative service.
  • Knowledge to act as a main point of contact/ point of referral for specific procedures, systems, processes, etc.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service. Ability to effectively coordinate a team of colleagues to deliver key events such as admissions interviews.
  • Well-developed analytical/problem solving capability to perform analysis of information and identify issues to support decision making and collate for inclusion in reports or other documents.
  • Skills to assess and organise resources, and plan and progress work activities, projects, and implement improvements within own area of work, using initiative and judgement with limited recourse to line management.
  • Knowledge of relevant IT packages, information systems and procedures, ability to adapt/transfer skills to use new technology, development and maintenance of websites, eg Office 365.
  • Professional approach to work and work colleagues.
