Applications / Support Engineer- Engineering Background -Hybrid

Designs, develops, markets, sells and supports noise, vibration, and harshness measurement & analysis systems worldwide using in-house developed software . The primary applications are end-of-line testing of automotive powertrain assemblies. They also design, develop, and supplies a range of specialist hardware modules that provide specific functionality .

Role Description The Applications / Support Engineer (ASE) is a key member of the team. It is a hybrid role that requires flexibility to ensure customers' needs are met. This role is Hybrid 2-3 days a week in the office

The ASE works closely with and reports to the Director of Operations. The Responsibilities:

Applications engineering

  • Assisting the sales process by receiving and interpreting customer requirements and relaying possible solutions to the sales team or directly to customers.
  • Progressing customer orders (in terms of hardware, software, and services availability) and liaising with customers up to delivery. System commissioning/support
  • Remote connection to system PCs worldwide to setup software, including integration with 3rd party test machine control systems, debugging production test cycles and proving system operation.
  • Provide ongoing remote support to customers worldwide via telephone, email, and internet (remote control) connection to customers' PCs. • Analysing and interpreting customer data.
  • Requesting software changes and new features. Customer training
  • Assist with (and ultimately lead) customer training sessions. Site visits
  • Occasional site visits to customers worldwide for system setup/commissioning/customer training. Testing of new software releases
  • Setup and operation of software to test new features and confirm existing functionality with a range of in-house test rigs.
  • Requesting software changes and new features. Creation/updating of user guides and training notes Hardware testing
  • Performance testing / calibration of produced hardware modules. Design & development of in-house test rigs

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

Essential

  • Degree, HNC or equivalent in an engineering/maths/science/computing discipline.
  • Excellent (Windows-based) computer skills.
  • Good Microsoft Office™ skills.
  • Willingness to learn.

Desirable

  • Experience working with engineering measurement / analysis software.
  • Interest in noise and/or vibration measurement & analysis.
  • Working knowledge of automotive powertrains.

  • Able to manage and prioritise multiple demands.
  • Organised and comfortable working to structured procedures.
  • Able to work with colleagues at all levels.
  • Flexible approach (priorities may change during a working day).
  • Willingness to travel worldwide, sometimes at short notice.
