Eventus Recruitment Group are seeking a Compliance and Risk Manager to join this Legal 500 ranked team known for our commitment to growth. With multiple offices this role will be based on the Surrey/Hampshire border and easily commutable from Farnborough, Guildford, Wokingham and Reading. This a permanent job position with super flexible hybrid working on offer. Role Responsibilities

As the Compliance and Risk Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that the firm adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies, minimising risk and maintaining their reputation for excellence.

The day-to-day job duties within this role include (but not limited to :

  • Responsibility for managing and running all of the firm's operational compliance functions and will play a part in setting the plans and strategy for the firm's compliance functions moving forward. This is across the key spaces of SRA, FCA, money laundering, ICO and complaints management. Setting the plans and objectives for the compliance function.
  • Playing an active role in the strategy for the compliance function.
  • Evaluating risk levels, significance, and scope within the firm's compliance procedures, communicating findings to the Compliance Board.
  • Overseeing and managing policies, systems, and controls related to compliance, promptly reporting breaches to regulatory bodies like the SRA and ICO.
  • Reducing or alleviating the compliance burden on to the fee-earning resources within the firm.
  • Acting as the adviser to the Compliance Board on implementing compliance measures.
  • Investigating and recommending actions in response to client complaints.
  • Providing guidance on corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies for policy, system, and personnel issues.
  • Working alongside the heads of department to identify and reduce risk factors.
  • Delivering effective risk and compliance training as needed.
  • Managing and overseeing the development the compliance team.

Person Specification

To be successful in your application for this Compliance and Risk Manager you will have worked for 5 years as a minimum within compliance within a law firm. In addition, you will possess the following experience, skills and attributes:

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, capable of influencing and building relationships across all levels.
  • A pedigree in being involved in and influencing strategy.
  • Ability to work with Partners and Management Committee to resolve client conflicts effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest professional standards to minimise risk.
  • Proficiency in IT, organisation, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Skilled in balancing commercial interests with compliance requirements.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and tact.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
