Our mission is to offer engaging activities, personalised support, and a sense of community where every child can thrive. We are open on Saturdays and during school holidays to ensure continuous support and enrichment for our members.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Children's Support Worker to join our team at Little Flowers Club. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with disabled young people and a commitment to enhancing their well-being and development. This role involves providing direct support to children, facilitating activities, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personalised care and support to disabled young people, ensuring their individual needs are met.
- Assist in planning and facilitating a variety of engaging activities, including arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, and educational sessions.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging social interaction and participation among all members.
- Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and team members to provide updates and address any concerns.
- Support children with personal care tasks as needed, respecting their dignity and promoting independence.
- Provide refreshments to children, ensuring any dietary requirements are met.
- Administer first aid when necessary, adhering to club protocols.
- Assist with club administration tasks as needed, ensuring smooth operation and organisation.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities, and any incidents, following club policies and procedures.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience working with children, particularly those with disabilities, in a support or caregiving role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the development and well-being of young people.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently, demonstrating initiative and reliability.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety practices in a childcare setting.
- Relevant qualifications in childcare, support work, or a related field are desirable but not essential.
- First Aid certification is an advantage.
- A valid driver's licence.
- Good professional and personal references.
Working Hours:
- Starting end of October 2024.
- 2 - 4 days per week during school holidays: 9:30am - 3:30pm.
- Saturdays: 1.30pm - 4.30pm.
- Sundays: 9.30am - 3.30pm.
