We are looking to recruit an Area Lead Trainer to cover Scotland.

As an Area Lead Trainer, you will oversee and ensure the effective delivery of Driver Training across the region, including crafting, and implementing Driver Training modules in accordance with Calor and Industry regulations. Offering expert advice on safety and technical matters to various national working groups. Regularly reporting on driver performance standards at the quarterly Nominated Transport Managers meeting and organizing additional training sessions as needed to ensure ongoing compliance among drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Always Guaranteeing the utmost adherence to safety protocols and spearheading efforts to enhance safety accountability across the business by exemplifying visible, felt leadership. Proactively intervening when necessary and embodying the Calor lifesaving rules to promote a culture of safety and well-being.
  • Provide comprehensive Driver CPC and Calor Gas training to both new recruits and existing drivers, covering theoretical and practical aspects. Oversee and organize the efficient execution of driver training conducted via the Driver Skills Training (DSTs) platform. Arrange training venues and keep management informed of all training activities. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all completed training sessions.
  • Conduct in-house driver assessment and corrective action training for the Driver Skills Training (DSTs) team.
  • Participate in quarterly driver training standardization meetings to exchange best practices and enhance the quality and consistency of driver training programs.
  • Coach, mentor, and deliver delivery skills training to DSTs, ensuring they stay updated on any changes or updates in legislation or Calor policy. Conduct regular audits of DSTs and offer support and constructive feedback to aid in their professional development.
  • Serve as a central resource for providing information and guidance to Transport Managers by monitoring and auditing TruTac compliance reports, identifying and addressing non-compliance infringements. Attend quarterly area TruTac compliance meetings to stay informed and ensure alignment with compliance standards.
  • Revise and enhance the current content of all driver training courses and develop new courses to meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • Complete driver induction training paperwork, including evaluation and feedback forms, and submit the original documentation to the manager as evidence of completed training.
  • Keep a precise record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to pinpoint areas for personnel growth and development.
  • Collaborate with external training providers to oversee the national Calor driver apprenticeship program. Responsible for monitoring apprentices' progress and ensuring they are adequately prepared to pass the level 2 DGV qualification.
  • Accountable for enhancing the safe and fuel-efficient driving standards among Calor LGV drivers, focusing on identifying areas for improvement. This involves conducting the Driver Assessor and Corrective Action training course for potential driver assessors to ensure ongoing improvement in driving practices.
  • Collaborate with the Driver Training and Compliance Manager (DTCM) to design and develop Driver CPC training courses and materials consistent with Calor and industry regulations. Ensure that all courses adhere to the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) regulations during delivery.
  • Effectively oversee the delivery of all driver training conducted by Driver Skills Training (DSTs) within the designated area of responsibility. Additionally, approve monthly training payments to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Act as a deputy for the Driver Training and Compliance Manager (DTCM) as necessary in their absence.

  • Maintain a professional and conscientious approach with high standards, serving as a role model for both DSTs, Driver Apprentices, and the entirety of Calor Gas.
  • Oversee the selection, training, and efficient management of driver training utilizing DSTs resources within the designated area of responsibility and regularly conduct refresher training sessions and perform audits of DSTs to ensure consistent maintenance of standards.
  • Thoroughly monitor driver tachograph infringements and collaborate with Area Transport Managers and Transport Controllers to ensure adherence to agreed company policies and regulations.
  • Stay informed about Calor and transport legislation, maintaining a comprehensive understanding by staying updated on any new changes and revisions to the regulations.

Are you?

  • An experienced HGV Driver with CAT C&E driving licence.
  • A holder of a Teaching / Learning qualification i.e., Level 3 in education and training or equivalent (Desirable).
  • Experienced and knowledgeable within the LPG industry (Desirable).
  • Level 3 Manager CPC (National/International) qualified in road haulage (Desirable).
  • Counterbalance / Moffett FLT trained (Desirable).
  • Flexible and willing to travel, including spending nights away from home occasionally, sometimes at short notice.
