Design Manager
A busy house builder have a requirement for an experienced Design Manager to join their Design & Technical team to assist with the delivery of housing developments across the North West.
About the role - Design Manager
Reporting to the Technical Director you will be responsible for coordinating all design/utility information between external consultants/Multi Utility contractors and internal departments ensuring that all approvals/utility quotes are obtained in a timely manner and that high quality and correct information is issued to other departments.
Duties & responsibilities:
- To work with the Land Department to ensure smooth transition of all architectural information checking all drawings and details for accuracy, correctness and commercial suitability
- To apply for and secure planning permission for all architectural design and relevant regulation approval
- To attend design meetings with planning departments to ascertain requirements from a council perspective for new developments
- Procure sketch layouts and architectural design solutions
- Provide provisional assessment of architectural design requirements
- Review technical information and provide value architectural design
- Monitor progress of the Building Regulation and CFSH applications and obtain approval
- Architectural / Technical Design
- Assist the Technical Director to obtain fee quotations from specialist consultants for all architectural design requirements.
- Provide architectural and technical support to the site teams.
- People Management Responsibilities - To lead and build team or Architectural Technicians, undertake development reviews and support personal development plans
Requirements for the Design Manager role
The successful candidate must have previous experience working on housing developments and have good working knowledge of the planning system and building regulations.
- Proficient in CAD and layouts
- HND level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant building related subject
- Work effectively to deadlines and competently works on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Previous management experience
- Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
