Senior Test Engineer

We're looking for a confident and communicative Senior Test Engineer to join an EdTech scale-up in East Wiltshire. Automation experience with Playwright would be advantageous, as well as a repertoire of other test environment skills.

Background:

You'll be well versed in a number of functional and non-functional testing types, such as:

  • unit
  • integration
  • end to end
  • exploratory / sanity
  • regression
  • security
  • accessibility
  • performance / load / stress
  • cross-device/cross-platform
  • user acceptance

Experience creating automation frameworks from scratch, ideally with TypeScript and Playwright.

The ability to turn functional and non-functional requirements into test plans and strong expertise in test automation, and experience creating automation test suites for the various types of testing.

An expert ability to code, debug, and maintain tests, ideally in TypeScript, and high competency with test automation frameworks and tools such as Playwright.

A very good understanding of

  • source control mechanisms.
  • releasing procedures as well as CI and CD tools.
  • TDD and BDD, and frameworks such as Gherkin.?
  • Agile, Lean and DevOps practices, as well as frameworks such as Scrum.
  • web application development processes and practices.

What you'll be doing:

You'll be engaged in the refinement of the backlog, by working with the product team and software engineers to reduce risks and ambiguity and increase ability to deliver work fast. Especially with focus on testability and impact on other work.

Assist in the planning and execution of sprint work, especially performing various types of testing as required to achieve the sprint goal and meet our expected quality standard. Typically, this might include:

  • Creating and maintaining test plans.
  • Coding and maintaining automation tests.
  • Define and execute manual tests.
  • Research and define strategies to test roadmap items.

You'll also have the ability to coach and mentor engineers from all disciplines in both technical and theoretical skill areas.
