CNC Programmer

8am – 4pm Monday to Friday
Our client based on the outskirts of Bedford are looking for a competent CNC Programmerto use computer numerically controlled (CNC) machinery safely and accurately to perform a variety of functions.
As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for creating and optimizing CNC programs to produce high-quality parts and components. You will work closely with the engineering and production teams to ensure that all machining processes are efficient and meet exacting standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and optimise CNC programs for lathes, mills, and other CNC machines.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining operations.
- Select appropriate tools, cutting speeds, and feeds for each job to maximise efficiency and quality.
- Set up and operate CNC machines to perform trial runs, ensuring program accuracy and completeness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with CNC programs and machines.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to design and implement process improvements.
- Maintain documentation for CNC programs and revisions.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Requirements and skills
- Proven experience as a CNC Programmer in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code) and CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidCAM).
- Strong understanding of machining processes and tool selection.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ideally hold Certification in CNC programming or related field.
