Job Title: Payroll Service Delivery Manager

Department: Shared Services

Responsible To: Service Centre Manager

£29-£40ph- Temporary

Responsible For: Team Leaders and Improvement Coordinators/Development Leads

Job Purpose: To manage and deliver high-quality, continuously improving Payroll services to partners and customers. Provide direction, empowerment, and development support to teams, ensuring services are efficient, effective, and customer-focused to maximize efficiency and deliver ongoing cost savings.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage and monitor the performance and quality of Payroll services against key performance indicators and Service Level Agreements.

Lead the creation, development, and promotion of Service Level Agreements.

Develop and review KPIs to monitor and improve performance.

Ensure current knowledge of payroll legislation for yourself, your teams, and the wider partnership.

Ensure excellent customer service in line with agreed standards and KPIs.

Contribute to the strategic direction of the service.

Work in partnership with HR and Payroll colleagues and key stakeholders to ensure excellent service delivery and process improvements.

Implement Council policies and procedures in conjunction with other Team Leaders.

Manage resources to ensure efficient service delivery.

Engage Improvement Coordinators/Development Leads in developing efficient processes and procedures.

Lead the assessment and implementation of new technologies to support business efficiency.

Lead continuous improvements to maintain and develop service delivery.

Encourage and generate new ideas for improvement by engaging with professional bodies and external sources.

Manage and develop team performance through feedback, coaching, and performance management methods.

Ensure safe and appropriate handling of information and data, maintaining data quality and compliance with relevant legislation.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

Degree or equivalent professional/management qualification related to Payroll, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

Managing transactional payroll processes in a pressurized environment.

Managing Payroll teams for a diverse range of customers.

Ideally Using Oracle ERP or similar HR/Payroll systems.

People management and proactive performance management.
