Associate Director of Development

Merrifield Consultants is thrilled to collaborate with an outstanding arts charity in London to recruit a new Associate Director of Development. This key role within the Development's Senior Leadership team will oversee the Corporate Development and Development Events teams. The successful candidate will work closely with staff to develop short- and long-term strategies that drive significant growth as the fundraising needs and business model evolves.

Contract: Permanent, Full time (Part time considered)
Working pattern: 3-4 days in the office

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the senior fundraising team to set specific targets and KPIs for the team, and monitor performance and progress against the budget.
  • Work regularly with the organisation's People team to oversee recruitment and training for the entire Development team, coordinating with line managers to ensure personal development plans are in place and implemented for all staff.
  • Personally solicit donations from individuals, trusts, and businesses, with an emphasis on securing 6 and 7 figure corporate partnerships.
  • Utilise data and judgment to inform decision-making, maintaining a solid and confident understanding of the NT's assets and its position within the broader market.
  • Leverage senior networks and organisational resources, including LinkedIn, to initiate new partnership and funding opportunities.
  • Build strong, authentic relationships with colleagues across other departments and the wider sector.

Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive fundraising experience with a proven track record of personally securing 6 and 7-figure donations from businesses
  • Experience in organizing high-impact events and activations
  • Demonstrated success in leading a high-performing team
  • Effective negotiator with the ability to galvanize a diverse group of individuals, including senior stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Personal gravitas and confidence
