Hours: 37 hours Monday-Friday

Based in Walsall with travel within West Midlands and to Cambridge

At South Staffs Water we deliver clean and reliable water supplies to around 1.7 million customers within the South Staffs and Cambridge regions. Following a promotion, we've got a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned HR Business Partner to join our team. Reporting to the Group Head of HR Business Partnering, the successful candidate will provide generalist expertise to our 2 regulated Water businesses (circa 430 employees) in a unionised environment. Leading a team made up of an HR Advisor and HR/Training Administrator, you'll drive HR operational excellence, whilst building relationships with key stakeholders and truly getting to understand their needs, offering insight and guidance on the whole range of HR areas including performance and people management, policy and procedure, reward and recognition, talent and succession, workforce planning, employee engagement. You'll be used to operating at a strategic level and enhancing the skill-sets of your operational line managers.

You'll get additional support from centralised HR Admin and Recruitment Business-Partnering teams at a group level so you can focus your time on helping the Water business to deliver on its people agenda.

About the role:

You'll champion the exciting and ambitious Group People Plan in the Water businesses, taking accountability to ensure all elements are delivered and embedded into the business areas and will lead by embodying the company's Values and Behaviours and:

  • Develop strong relationships to influence the business area management, union and teams around the people agenda and issues
  • Lead your team to advise, guide, coach and support managers providing high level people management and development support across all disciplines
  • Communicate effectively and lead the teams within the business area through change and implementation of new initiatives
  • Manage talent and succession planning within area, highlighting risks and creating action plans to support the wider talent and succession planning process.
  • Provide high-quality monthly management information for board reporting
  • Analyse data looking for trends and insights and produce recommendations to the business for improvements or focus areas
  • Take ownership to ensure business area drives the appropriate actions from employee feedback around employee engagement, IIP and wellbeing.

What you'll need:

  • To be an experienced HR Business Partner with experience in a unionised environment
  • To be commutable to Walsall but able to travel to Cambridge on a monthly basis and to other sites around the Midlands
  • Experience in delivering projects based on People Transformation plans
  • Capability to develop relationships quickly at all levels
  • To be able to use your strong emotional intelligence to positively influence in the right way
  • Previous experience leading aa small team
