Job Title: Building Surveyor

Location: London

Are you an experienced Building Surveyor looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a skilled professional to join our Resident Services team, specialising in the management and delivery of a variety of building repair works and adaptations. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality services, ensuring compliance with statutory and local legislation while contributing to our wider performance goals.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage building works from inception to completion, overseeing contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
  • Advise on legislative changes and sustainable technologies to enhance service delivery.
  • Develop and monitor procedures to ensure a high-quality, customer-focused service.
  • Foster strong relationships with residents, contractors, internal teams, and external agencies to deliver the best value.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of contracts and contractors, recommending improvements for greater efficiency.
  • Assist in the tendering process for building works, ensuring financial and audit compliance.

**Requirements:

  • Essential: A recognised building qualification or significant industry experience.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of the Housing Disrepair protocol.
  • Proven experience in repairs, maintenance, and construction service delivery.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to handle a wide range of people in high-pressure situations.
  • A full UK driving licence is required, as well as the ability to work outside normal hours when necessary.

**Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with contract management in a maintenance and adaptations environment.
  • Ability to effectively plan and manage a varied workload.
  • Confident in writing concise reports, explaining complex information, and mentoring junior staff.
  • Proficiency in using IT for reports, performance monitoring, and detailed drawings.

**Special Conditions:

  • Physical mobility to access building sites, including the use of ladders and scaffolds.
  • Comfortable working in restricted spaces and wearing personal protective equipment as required.
