Role Overview

The 2nd line Support Technician will be a crucial part of the IT team, providing support for the computing and AV estate, server and network infrastructure, and telephony systems. You will work closely with teaching, operational teams, and students, ensuring all systems are up-to-date, secure, and running smoothly. This role includes general IT support, incident management, and contributing to the implementation of new systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1st and 2nd Line Support: Deliver support for computing and AV estate.
  • Server and Network Support: Provide 2nd Line support for server and network infrastructure.
  • Incident Management: Manage incidents and problem tickets within SLA's.
  • Information Security: Address information security incidents within SLA's.
  • User Support: Assist teaching, operational teams, and students across the Foundation.
  • System Implementation: Collaborate in rolling out new systems.
  • System Maintenance: Ensure all systems are available, updated, and secure.
  • Patch Management: Maintain systems within the Information Security framework.
  • Documentation: Document learning and share knowledge with the IT Support Team.
  • Automation: Drive automation of repeated processes.
  • Telephony Management: Manage telephony systems.
  • Asset Management: Maintain the asset and inventory register.
  • General IT Support: Provide general IT support as required.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any other duties as requested by the IT Director.

Requirements

  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships both internally and externally.

  • Customer Service: Professional attitude with a service-oriented approach to resolving customer inquiries and issues.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyse problems, direct appropriate courses of action, and escalate when necessary.

  • Technical Experience:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft environment, Office 365, MS Teams, InTune/MDM, Azure AD, and Microsoft Servers.

  • Experience in Virtual Servers Administration, Management, and Operation.

  • Expertise in system deployment, imaging, and preparation.

  • Knowledge and experience using the Google Suite.

  • Solid experience in networking and switching.

  • Experience with telephony systems.

  • Competence in computer scripting, such as PowerShell.

  • Understanding of ITIL V3 foundation.

  • Experience using ticketing systems and solving problems.

  • Ability to interrogate information and logs.

  • Background in education is a bonus.
