Transport Manager - Roles and Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and manage the work of subordinate staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organisational requirements.
- Develop and implement transportation strategies that improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff, including drivers and logistics personnel.
- Manage the transportation network, including routing, scheduling, and tracking of deliveries.
- Optimise logistics processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Manage the transportation budget and prepare reports on transportation operations.
- Ensure KPI's are within scope.
- Ensure compliance with UK transport regulations and laws, including those set by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
- Maintain records of vehicle inspections, licenses, and other documentation required by law.
- Implement safety standards and ensure that all transportation activities adhere to these standards.
Transport Manager - Skills and Experience
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in transportation management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of UK safety regulations and transportation laws.
- Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Road Haulage necessary.
- LGV C+E is highly desirable
