I'm working with a large, acqusitive company near Leicester to recruit a Group Head of Finance on a 6 - 9 month contract, with potential for perm.

Job Title: Group Head of Finance

Contract Type: Temporary / Temp-to-perm

Contract Length: 6 months

Working Pattern: Full Time, 2-3 days per week in office, 8:30am - 5pm

Daily Rate: £550 - £600 per day (inside)

As the Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our client's consolidated balance sheet and P&L. Your main responsibility will be to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of financial information to internal and external stakeholders. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead a team of dedicated professionals and provide commercial insight to the management team.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading all aspects of the management accounts and group reporting timetable, providing valuable insights and challenges on outputs.
  • Managing and consolidating financial results for various reporting cycles, including budgeting, forecasting, and statutory reporting.
  • Developing best practices in financial controls, processes, documentation, and investment appraisal techniques.
  • Leading internal and external audit workstreams to ensure accurate and smooth audits.
  • Supporting the group's M&A strategy and assisting with the onboarding and integration of new acquisitions.
  • Managing tax planning, returns, and declarations while ensuring compliance with all HMRC requirements.
  • Overseeing the company secretary responsibilities for all group entities.
  • Providing accurate and timely financial information for sustainability reporting.
  • Improving management's visibility and understanding of revenue, capital spend, profitability, and return on capital employed.
  • Moderating capital spend proposals to ensure consistency, fairness, and credibility.
  • Developing and coaching members of the finance team and monitoring their progress.
  • Undertaking analysis and projects as required by the Finance Director, including deputising when necessary.

What we're looking for:

  • A qualified accountant with at least 5 years PQE and relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Business acumen and commercial awareness with the ability to maintain professional scepticism.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage tight deadlines, and prioritise effectively.
  • Passion, energy, and commitment with high personal integrity.
  • Flexibility and mobility required for the role.
