Role Overview:

As a BMS (Building Management System) Service & Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the continuous running, maintenance, and commissioning of BMS systems. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of building systems, thereby enhancing the operational effectiveness of facilities.

Maintenance Responsibilities:

Maintenance engineers are responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery. They use computerised systems to oversee routine maintenance and organise repairs. They are also involved in control and monitoring devices and occasionally in the manufacture of items that will help in maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and scheduling planned and unplanned work
  • Diagnosing breakdown problems
  • Carrying out quality inspections on jobs
  • Liaising with client departments and customers
  • Arranging specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings, or components
  • Controlling maintenance tools, stores, and equipment
  • Dealing with emergency and unplanned problems and repairs
  • Writing maintenance strategies to help with installation and commissioning guidelines

Commissioning Responsibilities:

Commissioning engineers are employed to work at a client's site, where they are responsible for commissioning and overseeing the installation of systems, plants and/or equipment.

Commissioning engineers help to make sure that the products they are responsible for work properly and that they meet the client's needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Making improvements to and offering advice about operational procedures
  • Scheduling and coordinating work to tight deadlines
  • Ensuring that equipment works to its specification
  • Creating and carrying out test procedures
  • Investigating problems, diagnosing/repairing faults, and troubleshooting
  • Liaising with installation/project engineers
  • Supervising engineering and technical staff
  • Writing reports and documentation
  • Ensuring safe working conditions
  • Providing technical support

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in BMS service and commissioning
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills
  • Ability to plan and coordinate tasks effectively
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards
  • Proficiency with computerised maintenance management systems
