The Role

Do you have a keen interest in environmental matters and a desire to make a positive impact in your community?

Winchester City Council is a thriving local authority committed to providing excellent services to our residents. We are looking for an Environmental Officer to join our team. You will be responsible for monitoring and managing the contracts of our three main contractors, BIFFA, IDV, and Wetton's, who deliver core environmental services to Winchester.

The role will be based at the depot in Bar End, but will involve regular travel across Winchester sites and locations where our contractors operate, and where our customers require. You will need a current full driving licence and access to a car.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigating resident complaints about waste collection.
  • Identifying locations for new public litter bins.
  • Monitoring the condition of park toilets.
  • Contributing to reviews of environmental services and developing new contracts.

The Person

  • A strong interest in environmental issues.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Good IT and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A full driving licence.
  • Sound customer contact experience and experience of working within Local Government within a similar area is a plus.
