What you'll do:

  • Conceiving, implementing, and overseeing robust network infrastructure solutions that guarantee high availability, scalability, and security throughout all business divisions.
  • Serving as the third-line technical escalation authority for incidents, problems, changes, and break/fix matters within the domain of network engineering.
  • Cultivating relationships with third-party vendors through regular service evaluations, performance oversight activities, and contract negotiations to uphold exemplary service standards.
  • Ensuring your team maintains current technical expertise requisite for supporting the organisation's evolving network technology portfolio and diverse clientele.
  • Formulating and promulgating policies, standards, and guidelines that facilitate effective governance of the entire network estate.
  • Supervising deployment planning, scheduling, installation procedures, as well as hardware and software lifecycle management-including upgrades and end-of-life transitions-for all network components.
  • Assessing requirements for supplementary resources by evaluating costs and provisioning third-party support when necessary for extensive deployments or enhancements.
  • Establishing collaborative interfaces with other departments within IT Infrastructure Services & Operations (IS&O) as well as broader IT groups to ensure harmonious integration of services.
  • Administering risk identification processes, reporting mechanisms, and mitigation strategies pertinent to network technology stacks in accordance with organisational governance frameworks.
  • Delivering comprehensive performance reports against key indicators and metrics to underpin business management governance processes.

What you bring:

  • Extensive experience occupying senior-level positions in networking with demonstrable proficiency in both engineering and firewall management within intricate enterprise environments.
  • Proven capability to serve as a third-line escalation point for incident resolution involving advanced troubleshooting across multi-vendor platforms.
  • Comprehensive background in managing vendor relationships including conducting regular service reviews and negotiating contracts for outsourced provisions.
  • Thorough understanding of risk management principles as applied to network technology stacks-enabling early threat identification and implementation of effective mitigation measures.
  • Expertise in formulating policies, standards, guidelines for expansive network estates encompassing deployment planning through lifecycle administration.
  • Practical experience with Arista/Cisco infrastructure; WAN technologies such as SD-WAN/MPLS/IPSec VPN; Fortinet/FortiGate/Palo Alto firewalls; Solarwinds/Algosec/Thousand Eyes; DNS/DHCP/IPAM; Cisco ISE; Riverbed optimisation; QoS; VXLAN & EVPN; BGP/OSPF routing protocols; Meraki Wi-Fi; Citrix NetScaler load balancing; CIS configuration benchmarks.
  • Experience operating production networks within regulated industries such as banking or financial services where compliance is paramount.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills facilitating effective collaboration with cross-functional teams including architectural specialists and regional support personnel.
  • Aptitude for producing clear performance reports aligned with business objectives using key indicators relevant to technology governance frameworks.
