Our client is looking for an experienced Associate to support one of the catastrophic injury defendant personal injury teams in their London office. They are seeking an individual with defendant employers liability/public liability and motor claims experience to run high-value catastrophic injury cases.

Role Overview

This role is within a top-ranked team, reporting to the Head of Catastrophic Injury, a well-known figure in the market. The candidate will be assisting on a variety of interesting motor, employer, and public liability claims, including sensitive and high-profile cases reported in the national media.

Role Responsibilities

  • Handle a diverse caseload of high-value catastrophic injury cases, including brain injury, spinal injury, amputations, polytrauma, severe psychiatric injury, and loss of senses.
  • Manage defendant employers liability, public liability, and motor claims independently with minimal supervision.
  • Provide legal advice and representation to clients, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of legal documents, including drafting pleadings, witness statements, and other relevant documentation.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and stay updated on relevant case law and legislation.
  • Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case management records, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Head of Catastrophic Injury and other team members to achieve team goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of business development strategies to attract new clients and referrals.
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff members, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and risk management requirements, including adhering to the firm's policies and procedures.

Required Experience

  • 3+ years' relevant experience*
  • Litigation experience in personal injury defence work
  • Experience of assisting on large cases in a team environment
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Must have experience dealing with defendant employers liability, public liability, and motor claims to run high-value catastrophic injury cases.
