Finance Assistant (Part-Time)

RM Recruit are proud to be working with a dynamic and faith based Christian charity organisation in Birmingham who are seeking a bright, well-experienced Finance Assistant to join their team on a part-time, permanent basis working 15-20 hours per week. Our client is able to offer a flexible, hybrid working arrangement with two days onsite and two days working from home with a generous holiday package and a great pension scheme.

As a Finance Assistant you will play a crucial role in supporting the finance department with day-to-day accounting tasks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Input supplier invoices into the Xero accounting system promptly, ensuring accurate descriptions, values, general ledger, and fund codes.
  • Verify supplier invoices to ensure goods or services have been received, and the invoice values are correct.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve any disputes.
  • Regularly reconcile supplier statements.
  • Prepare a supplier payment schedule for review and approval by the CFO.
  • Raise sales invoices in accordance with internal processes, ensuring accurate coding.
  • Maintain the sales ledger and assist in chasing overdue debts.
  • Post receipts, payments, and reconcile bank and credit card accounts daily.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience in a finance or accounting role is preferred
  • Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Xero accounting software
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) is a plus
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
