Software Developer Apprentice

Overview:
We are looking for a Software Developer Apprentice to join our technical team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to learn.

The role would suit someone who has a grasp of the basics of web development, with good MySQL and database design knowledge in particular. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of technical and web development projects and as such, requires the ability to manage multiple tasks, while ensuring high levels of service are maintained.

Ideally, applicants will have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a small team, any organisational skills with methodical and thorough attention to detail.

The Role / Duties:
Guided by the senior developer you would develop your skills through hands-on work and training, including:

  • Assisting web development projects, primarily using HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Analysing and processing data
  • Providing internal technical support
  • Assisting in the development of our products and services through researching and developing new ideas including client-specific custom functionality
  • Learning new systems and/or IT languages

Essential requirements / Skills and experience:

  • Knowledge and/or training in MySQL, HTML/CSS/JavaScript
  • Good attention to detail and testing skills
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Data management skills

Desired / Nice to have:

  • Knowledge and/or training in PHP, jQuery/AJAX
  • Knowledge and experience of the incentives and promotions marketplace
  • Knowledge of WordPress websites, including maintenance
  • Understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud

Entry requirements:

  • The learner must have completed a Level 3 Software Development Apprenticeship with QA or have an equivalent qualification with another training provider
  • OR an A-level in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) subject and a successful completion of our aptitude test
  • OR a BTEC Diploma in IT and a successful completion of our aptitude test
  • OR 2 years' experience in a relevant role and successful completion of our aptitude test

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week: 8:30am – 5pm, Monday - Friday. --- 37.5hrs a week.

Salary: £18,000 pa, with the potential to rise to £20,000 pa after 12 months on offer of a permanent position
