Financial Controller

Alexander Daniels have been engaged by a leading automotive manufacturing business in Telford to help them recruit an experienced Financial Controller.

My client is a leading developer and manufacturer of high-quality parts. The company is a full-service provider and currently going through a transformation and change project to help them with growth plans and targets.

The Financial Controller will report directly to the Head of Finance and also be a business partner to the UK Managing Director. The Financial Controller will ensure internal reporting completed as per agreed timescales to aid the effective decision making of business with insight, analysis and commentary. Actual financial results and drivers understood vs`. budget and forecasts.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Commercial team business partnering to understand annual sales budgets and long term 5 year sales planning.
  • Daily / weekly monitoring of sales performance against budget
  • Margin analysis - by project and by product group
  • Project controlling - monthly reporting and ensuring auditable approved documentation for audit purposes
  • Stock monitoring - understand stock movements with wider business with aim to optimise inventory position
  • Stock costing - cost roll-ups and annual revaluations
  • Operations reporting - weekly KPIs, validate saving initiatives
  • Budgeting / long range P&L and balance sheet (3 years)
  • Hourly rates calculation - labour, machine, overhead
  • Daily sales monitoring and weekly 3-month sales outlooks vs plan
  • Purchasing analysis - material costs budget vs plan
  • Management accounting - understanding of actual result vs latest view / commentary
  • Cash flow reporting
  • Support on collecting overdue Receivables
  • Coordination of internal and external audits
  • Business Review Meeting reporting - commentaries / bridges prepared for Group Board

The successful Financial Controller will possess the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified or qualified by experience
  • At least 5 years in a management accounting or financial controller role.
  • SAP experience will be a distinct advantage
  • Sector experience in manufacturing / industry preferred
  • Proficient in Excel, Power BI and other Office 365 applications.
  • Strong communicator and business partner experience
