Nursery Practitioner

An experienced Nursery Practitioner with relevant experience is needed to join our team at Buds that Blossom, a homely day nursery and preschool based in Wendover or Chinnor on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Room Leader / Nursery Manager, you will work effectively with colleagues to create a learning environment that meets the individual needs of all children.

You will be responsible for supporting key children, ensuring their developmental milestones are met, and conducting cohort tracking for key children groups to monitor progress and support their growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To contribute to the room planning
  • To understand the requirements of the EYFS, health and safety and Ofsted
  • To fulfill the role of a Key Person and work in partnership with parents/carers, ensuring all children's individual needs are met, including observing, planning, and evaluating developmental activities
  • Ensuring key children's learning, journeys, next steps, and cohort tracking are up to date
  • To liaise professionally and courteously with parents, children, colleagues and visitors in a polite and professional manner, seeking help or signposting to the correct person within the nursery
  • To prepare daily activities for all children for all children whilst adhering to the EYFS
  • To ensure the process for new children and children who are transitioning is followed appropriately
  • To ensure the procedures for own key children transitioning are followed and all paperwork is up to date
  • To carry out peer-to-peer observations termly
  • To assist in setting up the room in the morning, throughout the day, and closing the room in the evening
  • To support the team with hygiene for children, including nappies, toileting, face and hand wiping and changing a child's clothes
  • Assists the nursery manager with initiatives that directly benefit the nursery

Required Experience:

  • Full and relevant early years qualification or working towards it
  • Experience working with children in the early years
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the EYFS
  • Awareness of the Ofsted inspection framework
  • Experience working within a team
  • Experience in providing customer service
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Good understanding of managing a cohort of key children

Desirable Experience:

  • A relevant catering qualification
  • Experience in managing budgets
  • Working within a nursery setting
