Client Accountant - 12 month Fixed Term Contract

The role: The Client Accountant works as part of a team and is responsible for all aspects of client and property accounting within a designated portfolio made up of residential, commercial and mixed-use properties. This 12 month contract is to assist with the bedding in of a new large residential portfolio. The role will be working closely with a Senior Client Accountant undertaking investigative work on balancing charges.
Duties:
- Managing the financial accounts of real estate clients, ensuring accurate financial reporting
- Overseeing rent collections, financial transactions and property budgets for your set portfolio
- Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Manage the financial accounts for multiple properties, including rent collections and service charge accounting.
- Assist clients in the preparation of property budgets and forecasts and subsequent financial analysis.
- Oversee the billing and invoicing process for tenants and landlords
- Follow up on outstanding invoices as necessary
- Manage rent collection for clients, monitoring payment schedules, and pursuing arrears when necessary.
- Work with the team to implement payment plans and recovery strategies for overdue payments.
- Prepare VAT returns and assist clients with any tax-related matters as needed.
- Perform reconciliations on client accounts, including bank reconciliations.
- Ensuring that expenses are accurately allocated to tenants and reconciled regularly.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Assist with year-end audits
Requirements:
- Proven experience in property management accounting, including rent collections, service charges, and property-related financial transactions.
- Familiarity with real estate tax regulations and VAT returns.
- Experience with property management software (e.g., TRAMPS, Yardi, MRI, or similar) is desirable.
- Strong analytical and financial reporting skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work under pressure
