Based in Luton, Bedfordshire our highly recognised client with exciting plans for the future is exclusively working with MRK Associates in their search for a Head of Procurement, on a permanent basis.
This job would suit an experienced Head of Procurement, ideally with a CIPS qualification, to be part of the SMT and be responsible for delivering the Procurement vision and strategy to support and enable growth. This should offer huge opportunities as imminent regulation changes in their industry will alleviate the need for current public tendering for large value contracts and it will be important to maximise the advantages this offers.
This is a business known to everyone that has seen significant growth in recent years due to significant investment and further plans are in place to double the customer base further in the medium term.
They are currently in the process of implementing a new Procurement system, Jaggaer, with the aim that improved processes with allow the Procurement Team to spend more time on higher value-add activities, such as Category Management and Contract Management, which are currently at an early stage of maturity.
The successful individual will ideally be a CIPS qualified Head of Procurement who has lead teams and functions in the past (as there are 10-12 in this team). Previous experience of working with FTS and understanding the FTS process on Public Sector procurement contracts is essential. This person will be able to demonstrable a strong track record of achieving significant cost savings in a comparable business and also, of negotiation with suppliers.
Job responsibilities:
- Lead the transformation plan to improve the Procurement function
- To maintain an engaging approach from the Procurement function to the business.
- Adhere to the Procurement policy and procedure across the business.
- To work in partnership with operational budget holders and manage Procurement and contracting activity, utilising the Procurement system.
- To maintain and manage the contract database, e-Sourcing tool and protocol for ongoing supplier management, including the creation, rationalisation and management of "preferred suppliers".
- To work with the business and negotiate contractual arrangements with suppliers to ensure that value for money is optimised across all categories of expenditure (Opex and Capex).
- To work with the business managers to develop KPI's, support the business managers in its endeavors to monitor suppliers performance in line with the specific KPIs, contractual obligations and service level agreements.
- To report and monitor supplier performance.
- Process Hi Value Tenders through the electronic tendering (In-tend/Jaggaer) portal
