Maintenance Electrician

An esteemed educational institution in Cambridge is seeking a skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our facilities team. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our electrical systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, from emergency repairs to preventative maintenance, and will play a key role in upholding the institution's standards of excellence.
Day to Day of the Role:
- Respond to and investigate operational problems, carrying out routine maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Liaise with departmental personnel to understand the nature of faults and the impact of work on operations.
- Diagnose faults, inspect and service plant equipment, and implement repairs to ensure full working order.
- Engage in installation work, including assessing requirements, obtaining materials, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Participate in machine shop activities, using various equipment to manufacture component parts as needed.
- Be an active member of the emergency call-out team, available on a rota basis for out-of-hours standby duties.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Recognised Trade Apprenticeship and City and Guilds Qualification in Electrical Installation.
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification and Achievement Measurement (AM1&2) in Electrical Installation.
- City and Guilds 2382 – 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- City and Guilds 2391 – Inspection, Testing and Certification of Installations.
- Experience with a variety of electrical systems, including general power distribution and low voltage equipment.
- Proficiency in the operation and maintenance of controls relating to heating and ventilating plant.
- Ability to test, inspect, and certify electrical systems in accordance with Wiring Regulations.
- IT literate with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.
