Description
Assistant Accountant:
- Support and develop a team of finance staff, overseeing daily operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management.
- Identify new ways to improve process efficiencies, data security, and cost management across the company's finance functions, including SAGE 200 with HR modules.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer in preparing budgets for the company group (including associated Trusts), creating cash flow forecasts, and developing KPIs for the upcoming year and future projections.
- Streamline processes to enable the company to transition from quarterly to monthly reporting of actual results against the phased budget, distributing reports to all budget managers and highlighting significant variances to the managers and the Chief Financial Officer.
- Regularly monitor income and expenses to ensure budget compliance, providing updates to relevant budget managers and the Chief Financial Officer, as well as advising budget managers on financial matters.
- Generate monthly reconciled schedules, post accounting journals into Sage for the main company accounts, and produce financial management reports along with a monthly dashboard.
- Reconcile restricted funds within the company's main charity accounts.
- Maintain detailed accounting records for any grants or projects undertaken by the company, including reconciling restricted funds within the company's main charity accounts.
- Monitor the cash balances for the company group daily and advise the Chief Financial Officer of any major fluctuations.
Profile
Assistant Accountant:
- Working towards an Accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- AAT Qualified
- Experience in the production of Management/Financial Accounts
- Management of bank accounts and cash flow forecasting
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literate with experience using Sage or similar systems
