Location: Ely, Cambridgeshire (CB7 4EE)

Salary: £31,346 - £35,745 p.a plus benefits package

Job Type - Full-Time, Permanent, Office-Based

Hours: 37 Hours per week, Monday - Thursday 8:45am – 5.00pm and Friday - 8:45am – 4.30pm

GIS Officer – The Role:

In this role you will provide expert advice and guidance on GIS across the Council. Holding regular sessions to communicate key messages, and developments across the GIS work area. Showcasing examples of best practice and provide a forum for all staff to raise and discuss GIS related issues across the Council.

GIS Officer – Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance, communication and development across the GIS work area
  • Undertake a wide variety of spatial data capture tasks to ensure our record of GIS data is accurate and up to date, map production and geospatial analysis
  • Lead data management improvements ensuring that the data captured by the Council is available using and developing publishing applications to openly share to internal and external stakeholders

GIS Officer - You:

The ideal candidate will possess the essential qualities:

  • A degree which includes strong spatial data component or 3 years equivalent experience
  • Experience in spatial database development and experience of implementing spatial data standards across all business areas
  • You will demonstrate sound knowledge of knowledge of the Ordnance Survey public services mapping agreement including experience in spatial database development, including design, build, architecture & implementation
  • Excellent communication skills are required in order to transfer information to both technical and non-technical customers
  • Reliable, flexible and responsive with the ability to react to changing customer service demands
