Financial Crime Assistant

Location: Farnborough

Salary: £26,000

Hours: Mon-Fri 10-6 or 11-7 (candidate can choose) + 1 weekend every 8 weeks + Bank Holidays on a rota

Hybrid: 2 days from home, 3 days in the office

My client is a UK-based fintech company who is looking for a Financial Crime Assistant to come on board and join their team. You will use your knowledge, skills, and instincts to review customer account activity while supporting other teams within the business to resolve customer issues quickly with a Financial Crime perspective.

Responsibilities:

Use your knowledge, skills, and instincts to review customer account activity whilst supporting other teams within the business to resolve customer issues quickly with a Financial Crime perspective

Contribute to team meetings on departmental strategy.

Perform multiple administrative duties and departmental tasks as and when necessary

Perform customer screening against the PEPs and sanctions Lists.

Work to ensure that the business fraud cost is kept to an optimal level, whilst minimising the impact on genuine customers.

Identify, investigate, and document fraud/abuse trends and patterns via the review of automated alerts raised by internal tools.

Review incoming UK chargebacks and provide Financial Crime assessment (1st vs 3rd party classifications), appealing decisions as appropriate.

Develop knowledge of processes, regulations, and applicable law regulation on credit card fraud and fraud recovery through research of internal/external resources and assisting more experienced Fraud Investigators.

Skills & Experience:

2+ of experience in a FinTech or Fraud Prevention environment

Experience within a similar role in a Financial Institution

Experience in card processing is essential

Basic Excel skills (training will be provided where required)

Fluent in English across both spoken and written communications

A forward-thinking mentality and a proactive attitude in working collaboratively with multiple internal departments

Ability to work under pressure making quick, but informed decisions with many information resources at once
