Job Title: Senior Care Assistant

Job Purpose:

  • Provide high-quality care and support to residents
  • Assist with leading and supervising the care team
  • Ensure all care activities meet care home standards

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Resident Care:
  • Provide personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)

  • Assist with mobility and physical activities

  • Monitor health and well-being, report changes

  • Administer medication

  • Support dietary needs

  1. Leadership and Supervision:
  • Assist in leading and supervising the care team

  • Conduct regular team meetings

  • Provide training and mentoring to junior carers

  • Ensure adequate staffing levels

  1. Care Planning and Documentation:
  • Assist in developing and reviewing care plans

  • Maintain accurate records

  • Ensure compliance with standards and procedures

  1. Communication:
  • Communicate with residents, families, and healthcare professionals

  • Address concerns and complaints

  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings

  1. Health and Safety:
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment

  • Conduct health and safety checks

  • Promote infection control practices

  1. Additional Duties:
  • Assist with social and recreational activities

  • Support administrative tasks

  • Undertake other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent

  • Medication administration training and certification

  • First Aid certification (preferred)

  • Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a senior caring role

  • Leadership and supervisory skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Compassionate and patient

  • Good organizational and time-management skills

  • Ability to handle pressure and emergencies

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations

Working Conditions:

  • Shift work, including weekends and holidays
  • Physical activities (lifting, bending, assisting with mobility)
