ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Product Design Engineer to support the ambitious growth plans of the business. The Innovation team is at the very start of an extremely exciting journey, conceptualising and creating the next generation of Security products and technologies, which makes this role a fantastic opportunity for someone who is ambitious and really wants to make an impact and demonstrate their skills in this field.

Our Product Design Engineer will be at the forefront of all our Product Innovation and will be a critical component of our ability to develop and support products throughout their lifecycle, including concept, design, testing, certification, and manufacturing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As Product Design Engineer, you will be accountable for supporting our Product Innovation strategy and as such, we see the key responsibilities of the role as being:

  • Develop and support products throughout their lifecycle, including concept, design, testing, certification, and manufacturing
  • Produce models, drawings, specification, bills of materials and technical literature
  • Work with internal and external manufacturing partners and other suppliers to identify and source components and drive innovation
  • Resolve product issues which may arise during design, manufacture and/or in service
  • Rapid prototyping, functional testing, and analysis of test data
  • Ensure all designs and builds meet regulatory, statutory, client, and industry standards and requirements
  • Thoroughly research, trial, and propose new materials and processes and constantly seek continuous improvement and excellence

REQUIREMENTS

  • A qualification in Product Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Significant CAD/CAM experience
  • Knowledge of:

o Engineering Mechanics

o Electronics

o Mechatronics Design and Applications

o Production Techniques

o Design Methods

  • Comfortable "giving it a go" - not being afraid to try new things and new approaches, whilst doing so in a safe and quality-driven way
  • Ideally, experience taking a product or item through from concept to final product
  • Ideally, experience working with security systems and technologies
